About Injury Center funding

For over thirty years, the Injury Center has been at the forefront of safeguarding Americans against the threats of overdose, suicide, violence, and other injuries. The Injury Center implements science-based programs and practices with partners and communities across the country to scale up proven injury and violence prevention approaches.

Over 80% of the Injury Center's $761 million goes directly back to communities, including supporting health departments across the nation that serve a unique and critical role collecting, analyzing, and using local data to support community-driven, evidence-based prevention. The Injury Center's public health approach supports funded recipients in conducting innovative and rigorous research and implementing and sustaining prevention strategies that improve the health and safety of people where they live, work, and play.
